Animal behavior

Today I wrote a paragraph about feeding reptiles for my science class. It was so amusing that I've decided to share it with y'all. In the original assignment there wasn't all the thous and thys because I thought it would be a little much. I've added them for your enjoyment. :)

"While perusing an extremely captivating exposition, I attained much cognition about providing reptiles with nourishment. Initially, thou needs must cleanse thy hands from all odors, those of other creatures in particular. Subsequently, it is necessary to extract the animal from its accustomed habitation and situate it in an incommensurable domain to nourish it. If thou chooseth to cater to the reptile’s appetite in its native abode, thou are in much peril of being masticated by the vertebrate, who has mistaken thy hand for its sustenance, each time thou inserteth thy hand into its lodging. In the times to come, I shall ascertain that my hands are absterged and the animal is in a separate enclosing prior to giving the creature pabulum, to inhibit further hazard of being lacerated by the teeth of the reptile."

In other words:

While reading this interesting article, I learned a lot about feeding reptiles. First, before handling or feeding reptiles, you have to wash your hands so you don’t smell like food. You have to move them to a second cage to feed them so they won’t associate their normal cage with food. If you do feed them in their normal cage, you run the risk of getting bitten every time you put your hand in the cage. In the future, I can make sure my hands are washed and the animal is in a different cage to prevent the danger of being bitten.

Summer 2013

Like every summer, this summer ended way to quickly. The youth ensemble I'm in, the Voices of Victory, went on tour again from July 7th through the 11th. I have a lot of good memories I'll tell you about later. I think I'll make another voicethread about that. Then from July 22-26 I went to summer camp (Crossroads at Camp Maranatha in Ila, GA). I had a great time there, too. Here we are now and it's almost the middle of August!  My mom, Ben, and I have been hoping to go to Japan this fall or winter and it's now official that we are going there this November. Yay! I'm really excited about that!
Because we're going to Japan we are in the process of renewing our passports. We had a very interesting time taking passport pictures with Ben, and Daddy took a couple of pictures, too.

Mmmm.

Macy likes meat, but she was skeptical because we don't normally give her "people food". :)

School is Starting Again

Good-bye to summer vacation! Hello to tons of school. I'd have to say I'm not very excited about it.

Ben has recently gotten into making what he calls "brick films". He challenged me to make one this afternoon so here is the result. :) Let me know what you think! It's called Tornado!

Locked Outside My Own House!

This afternoon I was playing with the dogs outside. When I got back to the door, it was locked. At first I thought it was one of Ben's jokes, but then I saw the car was missing. I thought "Mom left to take Ben to speed-skating practice." The funniest thing was that instead of panicking, I started laughing. Then I really prayed hard to God. Thankfully, the bathroom window was open. The only thing was that it's about a foot and a half wide and it's four feet off the ground... I found a bucket and somehow got me through there! LOL then I went around and let the dogs in. That was my adventure of the day! -Leigha

Birthday!

15 years ago.... I was born.   :D I'd have to say that, again, this is the best birthday yet. I got to go roller skating with all my friends! Unknowingly, the church planned a roller skating event on my birthday! lol Before that, the Rogers came over and we ate lunch and did my perch and earthworm biology dissection out on the patio. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures.

"Oh! I popped the eye!"
"You know what? If I can't pry this fish's mouth open with my fingers, I'm just gonna pry it open with the scissors!"

Those are seriously things I said. lol The earthworm was squished paper flat so that wasn't that interesting, but the perch on the other hand...

Under the Bed

Lately, Ben and Macy have been under my bed a lot. I guess it must be comfortable or something... So I took some pictures of them.

After they came out from under, I took this pic of Macy. It's so funny!

Hmmmm...

Poor Macy!

A few days ago I was just plain bored so you know what I did? I grabbed a green marker and doodled on Macy's face! Here is a not-so-good picture.

I love tongue twisters! How about you. I'm pretty good at the Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers one. I found some more at this website (http://www.fun-with-words.com/tong_example.html

She sells seashells by the seashore. The shells she sells are surely seashells. So if she sells shells on the seashore, I'm sure she sells seashore shells.

Macy's Monkey

Just now, Ben and I were looking through tricks to teach Macy. Well, while we were trying to teach something else, we came up with this. Isn't it so cute? We called it "Monkey".

It was so cute I just had to show everyone.
